As many as 26 passengers travelling in a bus had a narrow escape due to the timely action of the bus driver and crew, who ensured that they disembarked the bus before the fire that it had caught spread and gutted it.
The private bus was carrying passengers from Mumbai to Hyderabad, and had reached Ramachandrapuram on the outskirts of the city this morning when the driver noticed that smoke was coming from the engine. He immediately stopped the bus by the side of the road near the Nagulamma temple.
The driver and the crew then asked the passengers to vacate the bus immediately - the fire had by then started spreading all over the bus, but the alertness and prompt action of the crew ensured that all the passengers got out before there was any injury to anyone.
The panic-stricken passengers appreciated the driver and the crew for their timely action.
