Telangana BJP chief and Karimnagar Bandi Sanjay Kumar today slammed the officials of the GHMC for allegedly "targeting" the Hindu residents of the state capital, Hyderabad, and for "demolishing" their houses in the name of reclaiming encroached lands.
In an acerbic statement, the leader claimed that the officials had not been carrying out the same reclamation exercise in the areas of the city which were ruled by the MIM.
He said that it was unfortunate that houses were being demolished only in certain parts of Hyderabad.
Kumar added that that the GHMC authorities had ignored the areas represented by MIM MLAs, like the Charminar and Khairatabad zones, and termed this "oversight" an "attack on the majority community" of the state.
He then demanded that the authorities to take up the demolition of illegal constructions in all the zones of the city in a fair manner.
Yesterday, the MP also raised questions about the second phase of the MMTS railway project. He demanded that the year-wise details of the new railway tracks that had been built and the funds that had been sanctioned for the same in Telangana over the last seven years be revealed.
In response to his query, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the leader that Rs 703 crore was the outstanding share of the state government in the Manoharabad-Kotapalli, Akkanapet-Medak and Hyderabad-Secunderabad MMTS projects.
