Reacting to traffic home guard M Ravinder's death on Friday, TPCC president Revanth Reddy alleged that the death was not a case of suicide but a murder committed by the State government.
The TPCC chief said that the government was not paying salaries to the home guards for five months, resulting in many of them being driven to destitution. He demanded that the government bear the cost of the education of Ravinder's children, and also asked the DGP to give a job to one of the members of Ravinder's family and a compensation of Rs 25 lakh.
He also demanded that the police register a criminal case against those responsible, and criticised the department for stopping other home guards from showing solidarity with the family of the deceased home guard.
The Congress leaders under the leadership of Revanth Reddy submitted a petition to DGP Anjani Kumar on Friday to ensure the security of the national leaders attending the CWC meetings and the public meeting to be held on September 16 and 17. Speaking with mediapersons after that, Reddy that Ravinder's suicide due to non-payment of salary had been brought to the attention of the DGP.
Reddy also visited the family of Ravinder, and announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh on behalf of the Congress to the family. and demanded that action should be taken against the officials responsible for the suicide. He appealed to the government to give a job to Ravinder's wife and Rs 25 lakh financial assistance. He called upon the Congress leaders to stand by Ravinder's family.
