Alleging that the TDP government was putting in serious efforts to obstruct the Hindu JAC's proposed Mahapadayatra opposing the "anti-Hindu polices" of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, JAC chairman Shiva Swamy reiterated that the body would take up the Mahapadayatra at any cost.
Speaking to the media at Amaravathi on Saturday, Swamy said that the JAC had decided to take up the Mahapadayatra to explain to the people the "anti-Hindu" policies of the TDP government. He said that the Mahapadayatra would start at the Vijayawada Kanakadurga temple on July 29, and would end on August 12 at Tirupati.
Swamy lamented that the state government was not giving permission for the padayatra, and was creating plenty of hurdles for it, among them harassing the organizers personally for questioning its policies hurting Hindus. He angrily said that some of the party's workers had even staged a dharna alleging that he (Swamy) had grabbed assigned lands.
Meanwhile, the state government has initiated several steps to obstruct the Mahapadayatra, including deploying police forces in many nodal places.
Shiva Swamy had, in the past, said that 30 pontiffs would participate in the Mahapadayatra along with him.
