The Telangana High Court today declined to grant a stay on the release of two Telugu movies - "Lakshmi's NTR" and "Lakshmi's Veeragrandham".
However, the director Ram Gopal Varma was forced to change the release date of Lakshmi's NTR from March 22 to March 29 due to some Censor Board issues.
Kethireddy Jagadeeshwar Reddy's Lakshmi's Veeragrandham will also be released any time now.
One Satyanarayana had moved a lunch motion petition in the High Court on Monday for a stay on the release of the two movies stating that some controversial scenes in the films might lead to law & order situations in Andhra Pradesh in the build up to the general elections. The High Court took up hearing on the petition on Tuesday and struck it down observing that every individual had the right to freedom of expression and that there was no need to stall the release of the movies.
Ramgopal Varma has made Lakshmi's NTR on the lives of late N T Rama Rao and Lakshmi Parvathi - based on events that took place after Lakshmi Parvathi entered the life of N T Rama Rao. NTR's role has been enacted by a stage artiste of West Godavari district while Kannada film actress Yagna Shetty has played Lakshmi Parvathi. Keeravani's brother Kalyani Malik has rendered the music for the movie. The trailer of the movie has seen huge response on YouTube.
