Following the Supreme Court directive to it, the Hyderabad High Court, which took up YSR Congress Party MLA R K Roja's suspension case, posted it to Thursday after hearing both sides.
The court is expected to deliver its verdict on the same day.
The AP Assembly had suspended Roja for one year for not complying with the norms of the House and going on belittling the Chair and the Leader of the House. And according to legal luminaries, the Speaker's decision is final as per the Constitution and cannot be challenged.
Roja however moved the apex court, which directed the High Court to deal with the case. Advocate Indira Jai Singh of Roja argued that the Assembly could only suspend her for the single session and not for a whole year.
Roja's name was also not mentioned during the time of suspension, the advocate informed the court.
AP additional advocate-general D Srinivas informed the court that the YSRCP legislator was suspended for belittling the Speaker and the entire House. The Speaker had the powers to suspend members for failing to comply with the House procedures and norms, he argued.
