Heart-Broken Couple Die Under Train

As if even death couldn't separate them, a young couple in their twenties lay dead on railway tracks in Jogulamba Gadwal district, with the hand of the man placed around the back of his lady love.

In the heart-breaking incident on Monday night, Lokesh and Kasthuri, both residents of Itikyalapadu village under Vundavelli mandal, allegedly committed suicide by going under a train near Peddapothulapadu village in Manopad mandal.

Police suspect that resistance to their inter-caste love affair could have driven the couple to resort to the extreme step, as Lokesh belonged to the Boya community while Kasthuri was a Dalit, and their parents were probably against their relationship.

The police said that the lovers might have taken the hit head-on, standing on the tracks and facing the oncoming train. They believe that had the couple been lying down on the tracks side-by-side, their bodies would have gotten cut into pieces.

The mortal remains of the couple, who couldn't be separated even after death, were handed over first to the Gadwal Government Railway Police for an autopsy, and then to their families.
