Telangana Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today paid a surprise visit to Chest Hospital at Erragadda, and warned of stringent action if bribes were offered or taken on the hospital premises.
The minister inspected various wards in the hospital and interacted with the patients on the services they were receiving. He then pulled up the officials for the lack of facilities and a patient care ethos, and negligence by the staff towards patients who needed regular services. Any sort of negligence would be dealt with seriously, he warned.
The minister also inquired about the death of a person due to the lack of a ventilator at the ICU in the hospital. He sought to know why there was no ventilator and why the staff was not fully involved in the delivery of services. He directed the officials to set up an ICU and CT scan centre immediately, and ensure that the patients got timely health services with proper respect.
Reddy also directed the hospital superintendent to check and resolve the problems ward-wise.
The minister also informed the gathering that Amma Vadi KCR Kits comprising 15 items for children and six for mothers were being offered upon delivery to women. The TRS government was also offering Rs 12,000 to women who had just delivered, and shifting them safely to their homes, he said.
He exhorted the people to have confidence on the government hospitals. The hospitals and the health sector which were neglected by the previous governments would now feature improved healthcare and medical services with all necessary facilities, he said.
