Launching a scathing attack against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for writing a letter to the Centre against the Palamuru Lift Scheme, Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today slammed the former for trying to deceive the people.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Rao alleged that Naidu's letter cannot stop the Telangana government's determination to see smiles on the faces of the people of Palamuru.
Rao said tenders would be called for the project and a land acquisition authority would be constituted for the project next month.
Despite Naidu's obstacles, the TRS government would complete the project on time, he asserted.
The minister charged that Naidu would face the fury of even the Andhra people living in Hyderabad for coming in the way of enhancing drinking water supply through the Palamuru scheme that will bring waters to Himayatsagar and Gandipet.
Rao also recalled that Naidu, who did not object to GO 72 on the project, was now raking up the issue for political gains. During its nine-year adoption by the Naidu regime, the Mahabubnagar district suffered a lot and migration increased manifold, he alleged.
The Krishna basin was under the HMDA limits, and the Telangana government would utilize 299 TMC waters from any project and at any time as per the Krishna Board verdict, he clarified. (NSS)
