Former minister Harish Rao today said that he was strongly condemning the "subversive, perverse and undemocratic attitude" of the ruling Congress.
He alleged that the house of BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy was attacked at the behest of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He demanded an apology from the CM for the attack.
"Is this democracy? Is this Indiramma's kingdom? It is a heinous act to induct our party MLAs into the Congress and then instigate them to attack our own MLAs," he said.
He said that it was despicable for the defecting BRS MLA Arekapudi Gandhi to attack Kaushik Reddy's house with stones, eggs and tomatoes. He said that it was clear that the attack was well-planned - Gandhi's followers had announced at a press meet that they would go to the house of Kaushik Reddy and attack it. And despite that the State government and the police system had failed to stop it, making the government responsible for the attack on the people's representative in broad daylight, he said.
Rao said that Gandhi and his followers who attacked Reddy's residence should be arrested immediately, and demanded full security for Reddy.
BRS working president K T Rama Rao also strongly condemned the attack on Padi Kaushik Reddy's house. He said that it was basically an attempt to murder the MLA in a broad daylight.
"Where is our state going? It is sad that Telangana is being turned into a place for faction and rowdy politics," he said.
He also asked how Kaushik Reddy was placed under house arrest and then attacked by Gandhi and his goons.
KTR said that Reddy was targeted because he was fighting legally against the MLAs who had defected to the Congress. He also alleged that the attack was definitely the handiwork of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and that the State government should be held responsible for it. He asserted that there was no threat to the BRS from such attacks, and that there would be more resistance from BRS leaders in the future.
