Governor E S L Narasimhan accepts the resignation submitted by the minister for Animal Husbandry, P Vishwaroop, protesting the state's bifurcation.
The Governor took the decision after Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy fowarded Vishwaroop's resignation to him for acceptance. Earlier, on Thursday, Vishwaroop met the Governor at Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation in protest against the proposed division of Andhra Pradesh to form a separate Telangana state. Vishwaroop ignored the Chief Minister's advice to continue in the cabinet post.
Recently, 2 other ministers, Ganta Srinivas Rao and Erasu Pratap Reddy had also met the Governor, and submitted their resignations from the cabinet. Medical Education Minister Kondru Murali Mohan and Forests minister Shatrucharla Vijayrama Raju too had submitted their resignations on August 12. However, a decision on their resignations was kept in abeyance by the Chief Minister.
The acceptance of Vishwaroop's resignation is likely to increase pressure on other ministers from the Seemandhra region to quit from their posts. (INN)
