The Governor and the Chief Minister conveyed their greetings to the people of the state on the twin festivals of Eid-ul-Fitr and Ganesh Chaturthi.
Governor E S L Narasimhan and Chief Minister K Rosaiah conveyed their warm and cordial greetings to the people of the state on the twin festivals of Eid-ul-Fitr and Vinayaka Chathurthi, on Friday.
In separate messages, Narasimhan and Rosaiah requested people to pray for the well-being of the state.
"The Islamic tenets of love, compassion, brotherhood and sacrifice help us rise above materialism to a world free from greed, violence and war, and promote a harmonious bond amongst all human beings.
"The holy Ramzan is a reminder to us of the purpose of very life as intended by the All Merciful and the most Beneficent God, the Almighty. Through rigorous self-discipline and a firm belief in God and the Last Day only, it is possible to appreciate and pursue that purpose.
On this Ramzan, let us redeem our pledge to respect the dignity of man, the sanctity of life and the solemnity of all faiths and maintain peace on this earth," Narasimhan said.
In another message, the Governor requested devotees to offer prayers to Lord Sri Ganesha, to remove hurdles for the success of their every endeavour. Initial prayers on the commencement of any auspicious work are offered to Lord Vigneswara, he said.
He added, "let Lord Vigneswara shower his choicest blessings on all of us to lead a hurdle free life this year."
Chief Minister K Rosaiah also greeted Muslims a happy Id-Ul-Fitr. He said, "The Ramzan festival, which comes after a month-long fast and daily prayers, brings in the message of peace, sacrifice, happiness, discipline, brotherhood and communal harmony."
Rosaiah wished the people in general, and the Muslim fraternity in particular, a happy Id-Ul-Fitr, and he also wished them peace, happiness and prosperity throughout the year.
