Governor's Speech Just TRS Manifesto, Says Opposition
The address to the Telangana Assembly lacked any mention of vital issues such as the fee reimbursment scheme and the farmers' loan waiver, it alleged.
Hyderabad | 11th June 2014
The Congress, the Telugu Desam Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Communist Party of India on Wednesday described the address of Telangana Governor E S L Narasimhan in the Telangana Joint Session as a distorted version of the TRS' poll manifesto.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly's media point in Hyderabad, Congress MLAs T Jeevan Reddy and Dr G Chinna Reddy said that the Governor's address sounded more like the election speech of the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
They accused the Governor's address of misleading the common people.
Jeevan Reddy said that there had been no mention of the fee reimbursement scheme even as the admission process has begun in colleges. He also said that the Governor had not clarified how 24 districts would be created in Telangana.
Chinna Reddy said that the Governor's address failed to clear the confusion over the farm loan waiver promise although the government had conducted a meeting with the bankers. Also, there was no mention of how the government proposed to eradicate unemployment.
TDP floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the government had failed to mention its strategy to overcome the energy crisis.
While welcoming the package that would be granted to the families of the Telangana martyrs, Rao said that those who had participated in the statehood movement during the last six decades also had to be benefitted.
He also demanded installation of statues of the Telangana martyrs of the 1969 movement at Tank Bund.
BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman expressed regret that the Governor's address had no mention of the farmers who had committed suicide over the farm loan waiver issue. He said that the government should have come out with more clarity on its poll promises.
CPI MLA Sunnam Rajaiah said that the Governor's address was silent on the welfare of about 1.5 lakh contract employees. Further, the government failed to explain its plan for the development of agency areas in Telangana. (INN)
