The government is committed to reimburse the tuition fee of all the reserved category students, stated Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, on Monday.
Talking to media persons at the Secretariat, the minister said that the government, despite economic constraints, would continue the reimbursement scheme as it would benefit thousands of economically backward students.
Though the payment of fee is delayed due to some problems, there was no shortage of funds for the scheme, Bose pointed out.
The government paid Rs. 3,792 crore as fee for colleges so far this year for students, he stated.
The minister alleged that the Telugu Desam Party was unnecessarily politicizing the issue to get mileage.
Regretting the
arrest of TDP leaders at the Secretariat, he termed the incident as 'unfortunate'.
Bose said the cabinet sub-committee took all measures to clear arrears of students and plug loopholes in the system.
