Give Pension To Anjamma, Act On Officials: HRC to Jangaon Collector
The Human Rights Commission today directed the Collector of Jangaon district in Telangana to give old age pension to Nagidi Anjamma of Lingala Ghanapur village.
The Human Rights Commission (HRC) today directed the Collector of Jangaon district in Telangana to give old age pension to Nagidi Anjamma of Lingala Ghanapur village.
The officials had denied her pension despite her deserving it as the records wrongly showed that she died. The woman had been roaming around the offices for about 13 months for her pension, in vain.
Taking up the case suo after seeing some news items in newspapers, the HRC responded immediately.
It expressed disappointment at the revenue department and the relevant officials for their sheer apathy in giving the old woman her pension.
Apart from directing the district Collector to immediately release the pension along with arrears, the HRC also directed stern action against the errant officials.
The HRC also sought a report by March 23.
