The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has collected Rs. 437.75 crores in property tax under the Early Bird Scheme this year and created a record.
Last year Rs. 362.54 crores were collected in the Early Bird Scheme. This year, on just one day (30th April), Rs. 76.96 crores were collected. The target for this year was Rs. 400 crores, the GHMC collected Rs. 37.75 crores more than that.
Around 5,32,108 tax payers paid their property tax, of which 1,96,166 paid it online - that is a record, too, in that so far no municipal corporation in the country has collected property and other taxes online.
Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and the entire staff of the tax wing regularly monitored, conducting meetings, held tele-conferences, and publicized the scheme through various media channels, and all that yielded good results said in-charge Commissioner Bharathi Holikeri.
The highest collections were received from Jubilee Hills and Serilingampally, and the lowest from Chandrayanagutta.
