GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the strike call given by the Bhagyanagar Municipal GHMC Employees Union (BMS) was not proper at this juncture given the upcoming festivals and the rainy season.
The Commissioner said that the demand for enhancement of salaries was being seriously pursued with the State government. He requested all the Unions to cooperate with the GHMC and not create any inconvenience to the citizens of the city.
Somesh Kumar directed all the Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to deploy vehicles at every ward with 4 labourers, and not wait for any untoward incident, instead staying ready to tackle issues and ensuring that the entire city was kept clean without any problems.
If the workers failed to resume work from Thursday, a series of measures would be taken, including action under ESMA and RP Acts, Kumar warned.
The Commissioner further said that anybody disturbing the work would be dealt with seriously. (INN)
