Ganta To Sort Out Fee Reimbursement Issue
Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao said determining nativity was not a State subject, and that the AP government would ask the Centre to intervene.
Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao on Monday said that the issue of nativity for fee reimbursement would be sorted out soon after meeting his counterparts in Telangana.
Ganta said that common issues for the States would be discussed and consensual decisions taken soon.
He hinted that the Telangana government should not create unnecessary constitutional-crisis-like situations by giving confusing statements on fee reimbursement.
Answering a question on this issue, he said, "The question of who will pay for the reimbursement will rise later - there is no need to create a constitutional-crisis-like situation with confusing statements."
A decision pertaining to nativity should be taken under the guidelines of Article 371D, Mulki rules and the Constitution, but not others, he said.
Commenting on reports that the Telangana government was considering 1956 as the reference date for deciding nativity, he said that his government did not receive any official communication.
Arguing that determining nativity was not a State subject, he said that if needed the AP government would ask the Centre to intervene and take a decision.
About the delay in the release of a GO for fee reimbursement in his State, he said, "Let the Telangana government take a decision first. There is a lot of confusion as to what decision the Telangana government will take."
Ganta was speaking at an event organized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technology (RGUKT). He said that the AP government had taken a decision to enhance the management quota from 5% to 15% for EAMCET counselling this year. (INN)
