Ganesh Sena leaders today demanded strict action against alleged illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants, urging the State and Union governments to identify and deport them in accordance with the law.
Addressing a press conference, Ganesh Sena general secretary Dr Ravinuthala Shashidhar said that the recently held Dharma Rakshana Sabha witnessed a large public turnout, which he claimed reflected concerns among residents of Hyderabad over livelihood and security issues. He alleged that government agencies had attempted to obstruct the meeting by diverting traffic and restricting access to the venue, but that the event was conducted successfully despite these hurdles.
According to the Ganesh Sena leaders, a resolution was passed demanding immediate action against alleged illegal immigrants, including the deportation of 6,993 individuals in Balapur, a figure they said was cited by the State government before the Telangana High Court.
The organisation said that it had submitted representations to the Telangana Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister, seeking the use of standard operating procedures and technology, including artificial intelligence, to identify illegal immigrants. It also called for action against individuals allegedly facilitating illegal documentation.
They warned the government of intensified protests if the authorities failed to act, and announced plans to hold district-level meetings and urged political leaders, student groups, community associations and industrial establishments to support their demands. The organisation also appealed to temple committees and the general public to prioritise local sourcing and report suspected illegal immigrants to the police.
