Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Monday demanded that the state government ensure that the police force was free of all kinds of political influence.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion of the BJP's Formation Day celebrations at the state BJP headquarters at Nampally, Reddy said that the Nalgonda incident should be an eye-opener, and that everyone must learn lessons from the same.
He said that the entire police force should be modernised and equipped with the latest arms and ammunition.
He alleged that except for providing it new vehicles, the Telangana government had taken no measures to strengthen the state's police force.
Reddy said that the police force should be given freedom to work in its own way, and that all kinds of political influence should be stopped.
He demanded a thorough probe into why SIMI terrorists had come to Hyderabad and who had provided them shelter.
Speaking about the party's membership drive, Reddy said that Sampark Abhiyaan would continue till July 31.
He said that training for new members would be held in the month of August, both at the mandal and the district levels. (INN)
