Free Mid-day Meals In Government Colleges
CM K Chandrashekar Rao today said that mid-day meals would be offered in all government junior and degree colleges in the state from this academic year.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that mid-day meals would be offered in all government junior and degree colleges in the state from this academic year.
When Jadcharla MLA Dr K Laxma Reddy informed that a government junior college lecturer Raghuram was offering mid-day meals to the students of his college on his own, KCR appreciated him, and immediately decided to replicate it in all the state's junior and degree colleges, and instructed officials to provide meals with nutritional value to government college students.
"Since many students go to their homes for lunch, the dropout rate is increasing. To prevent that, and to help the students stay healthy, we have to offer nutritional mid-day meals," the CM opined.
KCR also appreciated Assistant Professor Sadashivaiah for his plan for the development of a Telangana Botanical Garden in the Jadcharla degree college. He sanctioned Rs 50 lakhs to the college for the initiative. He also instructed officials to develop greenery in all colleges, and asked for a meeting with botany lecturers to take up green drives in their respective colleges.
Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and official Chitra Ramachandran were present.
