Forget AP, Complete RDS Works: Harish To Karnataka
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao urged his Karnataka counterpart M B Patil to continue the RDS works and enable Telangana get its rightful share of waters.
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today urged his Karnataka counterpart M B Patil to continue the works of RDS on the border and enable Telangana get its rightful share of waters.
Rao said that he had told Patil over a phone call that the Andhra Pradesh government was violating democratic norms by writing letters against the works.
Though Karnataka was ready to increase the height and began the works on RDS, the Adoni officials of AP had written a letter to Karnataka against the works, he alleged.
The two Telugu States should settle the issue by sitting across the table, but AP was instead hatching conspiracies against Telangana's interests and challenging its rights, he said. Despite his (Rao's) repeated appeals, AP Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao was reluctant to settle the issue, Harish claimed.
He warned again that Andhra Pradesh would lose the waters if it indulged in trying to spike the projects.
The Karnataka government should complete the works of the RDS before the onset of the rains, Rao said.
