The State Human Rights Commission has directed the state government to submit a report on medical labs that conduct illegal IVF (in-vitro fertilization) and 4D ultra sound sex-determination tests in AP.
On a complaint filed by High Court lawyer Arun Kumar, the SHRC has directed the Chief Secretary, Medical and Health Department, the Principal Secretary and the Director General of Police to submit a report on the status of such illegal clinics and labs.
The Commission has asked the government to submit its report by July 31.
Arun Kumar, along with certain affected parties, in the petition, said that there are several fertility centres in the city which are making a fast buck in the name of IVF and scanning tests.
The complainants approached the Commission seeking action against all such clinics, for going against medical ethics. (INN)
