Secondary Education minister K Parthasarathy, on Wednesday, said that he would file a petition in the High Court against the verdict of the Special Court for Economic Offences, which
awarded him two months simple imprisonment and fined him Rs. 5.15 lakh, on the charges of violation of the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act.
Talking to media persons, Parthasarathy said that he would consult legal experts over the special court's orders, and take an appropriate decision over filing an appeal in the High Court.
Stating that he would respect the court's orders, he said that has confidence in courts and legal institutions.
Responding to a question on the increasing demand by opposition parties for his resignation over the court's judgment, the minister said that he would consult senior party leaders and take a decision soon.
It may be recalled that the Economic Offences Court, on Wednesday, sentenced Parthasarathy to 2 months of simple imprisonment, and imposed on him a fine of Rs. 5.15 lakh, for violating the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, following a petition filed by the Enforcement Directorate. (INN)
