Holi revelry took a rather nauseating turn for several men in Warangal district, when the festive offer on beer at a popular wine shop turned out to be expired stock.
When Sai Nikita Wines announced a special holi offer on Carlsberg beer, selling four cans for just Rs. 200, unsuspecting men lined up at the shop to add to their Holi fun. A few hours later, when they started emptying the contents of their stomach, they found that the "festive offer" had been a ploy to get rid of stock that should have been thrown away these past six months.
Upon enquiry by the Excise Department, owners of the wine shop said that they had gotten the tainted beer right from the AP Beverages Corporation Depot. Further enquiry revealed that this is not an isolated event, and that the corporation has been selling expired alcoholic beverages regularly at low prices.
Meanwhile, all the expired beer at Sai Nikita has been seized, and an investigation is underway.
