Education Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday informed the Telangana Legislative Assembly that the State Government was considering introduction of English as the medium of instruction across government schools in the State.
Replying to a question raised by MLA D Manohar Reddy and others during the Question Hour, the minister said that the Government had already introduced English as the medium of instruction in 2,612 schools.
These include 2,217 Success Schools (parallel sections of English medium in the identified Govt/ZP high schools); 174 model schools; 64 TSREIS (general); 122 TSSWREIS (social welfare) and 35 TSTWREIS (gurukulam).
However, the minister did not specify by when English would be introduced as the medium of instruction in all government schools. (INN)
