The CBI Special Court at Nampally, on Monday, adjourned the decision on the bail petition of suspended IAS officer B P Acharya, an accused in the Emaar scam, to Wednesday.
The Special Court took this decision after hearing arguments and counter arguments from both sides.
The CBI counsel, Ravindranath, argued that Acharya might influence witnesses and tamper with the evidence if granted bail at this stage of investigations. He said that the CBI has clinching evidence to show Acharya's involvement in the Emaar scam.
However, Acharya's counsel said he wondered how long the CBI wants to keep him in jail in the name of investigations. He asked as to why the CBI has not included former government advisor K V P Ramachandra Rao's name in the investigations. The counsel observed that KVP's relative Parthasarathy's name was included in the chargesheet instead of that of KVP.
After hearing the arguments, the special court posted the petition for the next hearing on Wednesday.
This is the third bail application by Acharya since his arrest on January 30. (INN)
