The Election Commission of India today announced that part 7 of the Model Code of Conduct had come into effect in Telangana.
Inaugurating a media lounge at D Block in the Secretariat along with Joint CEO Amrapali and others, CEO Rajat Kumar said that the code of conduct had come into immediate effect when the notification was issued.
That meant that the party in power could not make use of officials and resources now for several specified activities, or make any policy pronouncements, he said.
The EC would take a call on the launch of Rythu Bandhu cheques, and minister KTR launching the distribution of Bathukamma sarees, Kumar added.
Deletion of bogus voters had been done as per the ECI guidelines in a transparent manner, Kumar claimed, and denied media reports of 20 lakh voters missing. The EC had received a total of 28,58,754 applications for new voter enrolment, among which 1,64,996 were rejected, 12,04,654 were accepted and 14,89,104 were pending, and the process was going on at a brisk pace online, he said.
