Voting in 11 of the 12 assembly constituencies elections going in for polls on July 27 will, in all probability, be conducted through ballot papers.
The State Election Commission made the decision to use ballot papers instead of the earlier announced Electronic Voting Machines, since a large number of nominations were filed.
Talking to media persons on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao said that except for Nizamabad (Urban) constituency, the voters will have to mark ballot papers instead of pressing the EVM buttons.
Revealing details on the last day of filing nominations, Subba Rao said that 966 nominations were received for the 12 constituencies for which voting will take place. He said if all the nominations were found to be in order after scrutiny on Saturday, then the EC will be forced to opt for the ballot method of voting.
