Under pressure from TV artistes, who recently took to the streets seeking a ban on dubbed serials, the management of MAA TV has agreed to drastically cut down the number of dubbed (into Telugu from other languages) serials it airs.
"We will cut down the production and telecast of dubbed serials by 50% from next month," producer Allu Aravind said.
Aravind, who has a stake in MAA Entertainment, said that he would hold talks with all the channels producing and telecasting serials and TV artistes to broker peace.
Telugu TV artistes have been on strike demanding a ban on dubbed serials, complaining that they cut into their assignments, while TV channels contend that they have invested a lot of money and cannot stop dubbing serials immediately. TV artistes even raided the office of MAA TV, breaking its glass panes.
With Allu Aravind himself taking initiative, the problem now seems to have a solution. (INN)
