DSC Scrapped; TSPSC Empowered To Recruit Teachers
With this, the posts of secondary grade teachers, school assistants, language pandits and physical education teachers will be filled through the TSPSC.
In a major policy decision, the Telangana government on Wednesday dispensed with the process of recruitment of teachers through the District Selection Committees (DSC) in the districts and opted to conduct their recruitment through the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).
An order to this effect was issued by Ranjeev R Acharya, Special Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Telangana School Education.
With this, the posts of secondary grade teachers, school assistants, language pandits and physical education teachers will be filled through the TSPSC.
Besides that, the teacher posts in the Adarsha schools launched three years ago will also be filled though the TSPSC.
The decision was taken for practical reasons and in the interests of simplicity - the government wants to bring all government sector recruitment under one umbrella.
The TSPSC will conduct a competitive written examination, prepare a merit list and appoint the teachers hereon, all by itself. The proposed filling of 10,000 teachers' posts will thus be done by the TSPSC. Even the posts of Principals, PG teachers and trained graduate teachers for model schools which are under the control of the Directorate of School Education will be filled through the TSPSC.
