Opposing the government's decision to go with the 70:30 formula, with 70% weightage to be given in the 'open' category and 30% for D Ed candidates, B Ed qualifiers on Monday filed a writ petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking directions to the State government to stop recruitments immediately.
The B Ed candidates appealed to court to conduct recruitments for Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts on 'common merit' basis.
In their petition, the candidates stated that the government had violated the GO 28 in conducting recruitments without completion of trial in the court.
Accepting the petition for trial, the court adjourned the petition for hearing to Tuesday.
The government has decided to fill a whopping 26,700 posts out of the 30,803 SGT vacancies in the 1st phase.
