The Transport Department on Wednesday launched a special drive to check the unregistered cabs operating in the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police limits.
A team of RTA officials led by Joint Transport Commissioner of Hyderabad T Raghunath conducted checks at the Jubilee Hills Check Post, Shamshabad Airport, P V Narasimha Rao Expressway and Nehru ORR.
In the first few hours, the RTA officials registered 11 cases and seized four cabs.
According to Raghunath, Uber's services were illegal in the city as it had not registered with the RTA. He requested people not to use any web-based cab aggregation services in general.
The RTA authorities are also taking action against cab operators and drivers who are operating without permissions or licenses. (INN)
