Search For Dorjee Khandu Narrowed
The pictures provided by the ISRO allowed the Arunachal Pradesh officials concerned to narrow down the search zone to a 66skm stretch of forested area in West Kamang.
2 Mi-17, 2 Sukhoi-30, 2 Cheetah and 2 Chetak helicopters have been going on sorties, battling bad weather conditions - since Saturday - in an attempt to locate the Pawan Hans helicopter carrying Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu, in vain.
However, thanks to the pictures provided by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the photos taken by the Sukhoi-30 choppers, officials concerned were able to narrow down the search zone for Khandu to a 66 sq km stretch of forested area in the district of West Kamang in Arunachal Pradesh.
The 2 Mi-17 choppers that took off from Tawang on Tuesday morning to try to locate the missing CM were forced to return due to the unfavourable weather conditions.
The pictures provided by ISRO, explains AP MP Sanjay Takam, show metallic objects spread over an area of 66 square km in the West Kamang district.
Though an air marshal in Shillong, Meghalaya, stated that aircraft-like figures were discernable in the infrared images taken by 2 Sukhoi-30 planes in Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh officials ruled out conducting search operations in that country.
It has been reported that various people claim to have heard a huge explosion on Saturday, at around the same time that the chopper is stated to have gone missing.
