Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Friday said that the state government was creating apprehensions among the people by taking up registration of non-agricultural assets in the Dharani portal.
He said that the government had announced the program without stating its objectives, and that the people were as a result unable to understand the need for the registration of the details of their non-agricultural assets in the portal.
He added that he himself was unable to figure out the use of the passbooks to be issued through Dharani to the people.
Reddy said that municipal and panchayat raj staff had been visiting the residences of the people and asking several sensitive details. He said that along with the property details, several other particulars including property use (residential, commercial etc.), land type (private or government), property type, mode of acquisition (gift, purchase, partition, inheritance etc.), plot area, built-up area, gender, caste, age, mobile, pin code, property tax amount, water connection number and electricity bill number were being sought, for no apparent reason.
He said that while the government had stated that it wanted to only register the non-agricultural assets, several details not related or necessary for that purpose were also being sought.
Registering the asset details in Dharani would not help the people in any manner, he opined. He said that it was just like the Samagra Kutumba Survey taken up five years ago, the data of which was never made public, and used only by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for political and electoral purposes.
The Chief Minister was once again using the public machinery for his party purposes, and the Dharani portal would also meet the same fate as the Samagra Kutumba Survey did, he claimed - the CM using the details for his personal benefit.
