Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy today said that the police force of the state would do all that was in its power to thwart the rising Maoist presence in the state.
Speaking after launching the firing range, parade grounds and BOAC at the district police headquarters in Hemachandrapuram village of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, he added that the district's police force was already actively engaged in thwarting any further attempts of the Maoists to infiltrate the state.
"Each and every police official in the district is on high alert, and has been keeping a close eye on the movements of the Maoists," the DGP said.
Talking about the problem of insurgency in neighbouring Chhatisgarh, Reddy said that the shared border between the two states made it possible for Maoists to enter Telangana.
The DGP has been heavily involved in combating the infiltration of Maoists into the state. In September, he visited Kumrambheem-Asifabad district twice in the span of one-and-a-half months to take stock of the rising Maoist presence in the region.
