The Congress High Command on Wednesday made it clear that the decision by K Rosaiah to resign as Chief Minister was purely his personal choice.
Talking to media persons before leaving for Hyderabad where he is expected to attend the crucial Congress Legislature Party meeting, Union Law Minister and Party In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Veerappa Moily revealed that Rosaiah had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and requested her to relieve him from the post.
Moily added, "Chief Minister K Rosaiah wanted to relinquish the post, and had met the Congress president. After considering everything, Sonia Gandhi gave her consent for his resignation".
Rosaiah had on Tuesday
denied meeting Sonia Gandhi during his visit to the national capital.
Asked if he foresaw any political crisis arising out of Rosaiah's resignation, Moily assured that that the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh was stable.
Earlier, All India Congress Committee General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi
stated that Rosaiah was not summoned, and he had come on his own to Delhi on Tuesday.
"Rosaiah had come on his own and expressed his willingness to resign citing some personal reasons. Today, he was informed that his resignation has been accepted," Dwivedi said.
