Even before the Nagarjuna Sagar incident could be forgotten, another tragedy took place in Nalgonda.
Hyderabad | 3rd June 2024
Even before the Nagarjuna Sagar incident could be forgotten, another tragedy took place in Nalgonda.

A dead body was found in a water tank in the Hindupur area of the town in the 11th ward of Nalgonda municipality.

The body was immediately recovered by the municipality staff.

The body has been identified as that of Avula Vamsi of Hanuman Nagar. A missing persons case had been registered as he was not seen since the last 10 days. It is yet to be ascertained whether he accidentally fell into the tank or committed suicide. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

The water has been consumed by the people of the municipality for the last 10 days. Locals are panicking after coming to know that they consumed contaminated water for the past 10 days.

Responding to the incident, BRS working president K T Rama Rao took to Twitter (X) to slam the performance of the Congress government. "You can't give continuous power. You can't give irrigation waters to the harvested crop. Even if monkeys fall and die, water tanks are not taken care of. A human body has been lying in a water tank in Nalgonda for the past 10 days. However, the State government did not find about it for so long. Even before the Nagarjuna Sagar water tank incident could be erased from our memories, the same negligence is being seen again in the Congress government," he said.

He alleged that this regime had completely thrown public health into the air and was not able to provide even safe drinking water now. While with its Mission Bhagiratha scheme the BRS had solved the decades-long drinking water crisis, the inefficient Congress government couldn't manage even water tanks, he said.
