Opining that intra-Party differences led to the Party's rout in the GHMC elections, Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee president Danam Nagender tendered his resignation to the post owning moral responsibility for the Party's debacle in the elections.
Speaking to mediapersons at his residence on Saturday after tendering his resignation to the Party post, Nagendar said that he had spared no efforts for the Party's victory though he was not given responsibility of the GHMC elections.
He said that the ruling Party succeeded in wooing the voters. He said that the traditional voters of the Congress like the SC, ST, BC and minority communities drifted away from the Party resulting in its rout.
He had already sent a detailed report to the Party high command on the reasons that led to the Party biting the dust, he added.
Stating that defeat and victory are common in the elections, Danam said that he would continue in the Party as an activist. He said that he would extend his cooperation to the developmental activities of the State government.
"I honor the verdict of the people. The TRS has to work sincerely to meet the aspirations of the people of Hyderabad, and it has to fulfill the assurances given to the people," he said.
He said that the Congress would mount pressure on the State government to fulfill the assurances made by it. He urged the Party leaders to bury their differences in the interests of the welfare of the Party.
