Animal Husbandry Minister P Vishwaroop on Wednesday reviewed rain-affected areas in East Godavari district at Collector's office.
Vishwaroop said that the paddy output would come down to 7,80,000 metric tonnes against the target of 11,36,000 metric tonnes due to heavy rains. 2 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was discoloured due to rain water, he said.
The minister said that the government would extend all help to farmers in the rain-affected areas, and make efforts to reschedule loans of farmers. From November 2009 to present day, crop insurance arrears to the tune of Rs. 103 crore were pending, and the government would release Rs. 35 crore immediately, the minister stated.
The government would hold talks with rice millers soon to address lifting of grains, he stated.
Vishwaroop said that the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would conduct aerial survey in East Godavari district on Thursday and review the situation.
Meanwhile, the district continued to receive heavy rains due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal which lay centered 50 km away from Bapatla as per the last reports.
