A case under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) was registered over the death of Satyaveni, 26, who was washed away in an overflowing nala at Uppal.
The Hyderabad City Police have registered a criminal case under Section 304A (causing death by negligence) against the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) following a complaint lodged by the relatives of Satyaveni, 26, who died after she was washed away in an overflowing nala at the Uppal bus stop.
Satyaveni's relatives staged a dharna at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary on Thursday where her post-mortem was conducted. They raised slogans against the GHMC Commissioner and demanded action against the officials whose negligence led to Satyaveni's death.
Satyaveni, who was pregnant, was washed away in the drain which was overflowing after heavy rainfall in the city on Wednesday evening.
Later, the relatives also lodged a complaint with the Gopalapuram Police Station seeking action against the guilty GHMC officials.
Based on the complaint, a case under Section 304A was registered, said Gopalapuram ACP Shivakumar.
It may be mentioned that a similar case was booked against a GHMC contractor when a man, N Prabhakar, lost his life after falling into an open drain in Hafeez Baba Nagar in August last year. (INN)
