Activists of the Communist Party Of India (Marxist) staged a protest before the Hyderabad District Collector's office here on Monday, demanding action against former Collector Navin Mittal for neglecting to stop land-grabbers from occupying government lands.
Navin Mittal is currently the special commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
Talking to media persons, CPM city unit secretary M Srinivas alleged that Mittal turned a blind eye to land-grabbers encroaching on the 4-acre land allotted to the slaughterhouse, in spite of repeated representations that were made to him apprising him of the encroachments.
The slaughterhouse is part of a 14-acre plot of land. According to Srinivas, he had led a delegation to submit a representation to Mittal on 15 October 2005 on the goings-on at the slaughterhouse.
Srinivas further alleged that he had requested Mittal to immediately order the construction of a boundary wall around the land allotted to the slaughterhouse.
Mittal reportedly ignored the representations, leading to the encroachers occupying the land.
On Monday, the protestors demanded action against Natarajan Gulzar's predecessor and accused him of deliberately ignoring their pleas.
