Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that, much like the current erosion of trust in political leaders, there was a gradual decline in the credibility of journalists as well.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Nava Telangana Telugu daily, held at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram in Bagh Lingampalli, Hyderabad.
In his address, the Chief Minister said, "Those who can't even write Telugu alphabets are posing as journalists under the guise of social media and indulging in unethical practices. Senior professional journalists should distance themselves from such individuals and avoid giving them legitimacy by seating them alongside credible reporters. It's unthinkable for someone who roams the streets and speaks obscenely to claim to be a journalist."
In the context, he recalled his long-standing admiration for the Left, and said that communists had always excelled at highlighting the government's shortcomings. He also praised the Left's contribution to the Congress' victory in the 2004 general elections.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, CM's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, CPM Polit Bureau member B V Raghavulu, CPM State Secretary John Wesley, former CPM State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram and former MLA Julakanti Rangareddy were present in the event.
