Coronavirus Tests On Dead Bodies Not Possible: Etala

Telangana Health Minister Etala Rajender today ruled coronavirus tests on dead bodies, despite the High Court's orders.
Hyderabad | 9th June 2020
Health Minister Etala Rajender today said that it was not possible to conduct coronavirus tests on dead bodies.

He ruled out conducting such tests.

"It is unscientific and meaningless to ask for coronavirus tests on dead bodies, which is not even mentioned in the ICMR guidelines," the minister said.

His remarks came at a time that the High Court has asked the government to conduct coronavirus tests on dead bodies, too. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has also advised more random testing.

The Health Minister stated that the doctors and medical personnel were doing their best to provide services to protect the people from the coronavirus, and that it would over-burden the system to add more tasks to it.

About 1,000 persons in the state and 30,000 in the country are reportedly dead from Covid-19.
