Stating that the Telangana government had increased the salaries of contract lecturers, and also passed orders regarding the regularization of their jobs, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari on Wednesday said that the process was however still pending due to a court stay order.
Speaking during Question Hour on Wednesday, the Deputy CM said that the government had almost doubled the salaries of the contract lecturers - from Rs 18,000 to Rs 37,000 per month for junior colleges, and from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 for degree colleges.
The Deputy CM also said that the salaries of contract lecturers of polytechnic colleges, and those of contract workers of various departments had also been hiked.
Srihari said that as many as 5,011 contract lecturers were benefiting from these increments.
