Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today said that the real tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, would be for everyone to follow the path to realise his ideals.
Vikramarka paid floral tributes to a portrait of Dr Ambedkar at the Congress' district office in Khammam on Sunday on the occasion of the latter's birth anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikramarka said that the Congress government was following democratic rule in Telangana with inspiration drawn from Ambedkar's Constitution, and was implementing its election guarantees with an objective to make the poor and middle classes live with self-respect and dignity.
"Every citizen should feel fortunate that Bharat Ratna Ambedkar was born in India. As a global intellectual and social scientist, Dr Ambedkar studied in detail the Constitutions of all the countries in the world, and wrote the best Constitution for India. If India could evolve as a democracy with a strong foundation, it was thanks to the Constitution provided by Dr Ambedkar," the Deputy CM said.
Vikramarka claimed that inspired by Ambedkar's philosophy the Congress had implemented the Constitution in letter and spirit after the country gained independence, but that some political parties were now conspiring to amend the Constitution formulated by Ambedkar.
Calling upon all democrats and lovers of the Constitution to be united for the protection of the Indian Constitution, the Deputy CM said that amending the Constitution was akin to an assault on the democracy.
"Protection of the Constitution is equal to protection of our democracy. If our democracy is debunked, the citizens will be in the danger of foregoing their right to speech and right to vote," Vikramarka said.
Claiming that the Congress government in Telangana was taking measures to set right the State's financial situation "destroyed" by the previous BRS government, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the State government had released the pending diet bills to the SC, ST, BC and minority residential schools, and was also paying salaries regularly to all its employees.
