Congress candidate Narayanan Sri Ganesh emerged victorious in the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly seat by-election.
He won by a majority of 9,725 votes against rival BRS candidate Lasya Nivedita.
The by-election was necessitated due to the death of Lasya Nanditha. Nanditha had contested as the BRS candidate for the Cantonment Assembly seat in the general election held in 2023, and was elected as an MLA. However, she died in a road accident in February.
Lasya Nivedita is the sister of Nanditha.
Sri Ganesh contested as a BJP candidate in 2018 and 2023 Assembly elections, but was unsuccessful. He joined the this year Congress and secured the ticket for the by-election.
