Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday accused the leaders of the ruling Congress party of swindling funds meant for the welfare schemes.
Addressing a meeting at Meerdodi village during the fourth day of his "Vastunna Mee Kosam" padayatra in the Mahabubnagar district, Naidu alleged that Congress leaders have deceived the people by not implementing the promises that they made in the manifesto. He also alleged that the government schemes were only benefitting the leaders of Congress party while the common people were being left to their fate.
Stating that their future is in the dark, the TDP chief asked the people to teach a lesson to the ruling party for its indifferent attitude towards them. He slammed the state government for its failure in tackling the energy crisis. He said that during TDP's rule, several companies came to the state for investments. However, he said while hundreds of industries have shut their operations due to the power crisis, many were leaving the state to other cities for greener pastures.
Naidu reiterated that his party would give utmost priority to the welfare of the backward classes and other communities if it returns to power. He reminded that a BC Declaration reserving 100 seats for the BCs has already been approved by the party. Further, he said that steps would be taken for the inclusion of some castes into the STs, re-categorisation of a few BC castes from BC-D category to BC-A.
The TDP president criticised the government for its failure to streamline the functioning of the Road Transport Corporation. He promised that the TDP would revive and strengthen the RTC, besides taking steps for the welfare of its employees. He also promised that his party would do justice with all sections of the society.
