A delegation led by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday visited the family members of Teku Laxmi, who was brutally raped and killed at Yellapatala village of Lingapur mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district of Telangana.
The delegation comprised of Vikramarka, MLA D Sridhar Babu, former MP Ramesh Rathod and other Congress leaders.
The leaders visited the site of the offence and gathered details about the gruesome incident from the local people.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikramarka termed the incident as very unfortunate and said that the Congress was strongly condemning the incident. He demanded that the State government to punish the accused severely.
He also said that it was unfortunate that that none of the ruling party leaders including the local MLA, the ZP Chairman or the State cabinet ministers had visited the family members of the victim.
Crimes against women were increasing with each day in the State due to this lackadaisical attitude of the ruling party, he claimed. The liquor policy was another example of the callous attitude of the TRS government, and was contributing to the crimes against women, he alleged.
Also targeting the police department, he alleged that the police were busy serving the ruling party leaders instead of the people of the State. He alleged that the police were booking cases upon the orders of the ruling TRS leaders.
