Congress leaders today urged the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj to ensure that the powers of the State government were not misused by the BRS government as the election code of conduct was still in force in Telangana.
The party leaders met with the CEO at his office in the city and complained against the State government on four issues.
MP Uttam Kumar Reddy spoke to the media on behalf of the Congress leaders who came out after meeting the CEO.
"Funds are being sanctioned to contractors belonging to the BRS. The BRS government is trying to give Rs 6,000 crore to contractors of its choice, without following the rules. Rythu Bandhu funds are being diverted to pay the contractors' bills. We also have information that land records are being changed. Lands in Ranga Reddy and Medchal districts are being converted in the Dharani portal. All these things have been brought to the notice of the CEO. We have requested him to ensure that the records of the assigned lands are not changed, and to keep an eye on government transactions when the election code of conduct is in force. We have requested the CEO to ensure that the powers of the State government are not misused," Reddy said.
He also said that they had requested the EC to stop the KCR government from taking any decisions in the cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on December 4.
Reddy also said that the Congress suspected rigging in some polling stations of the State capital, and had asked the EC to hold an inquiry into the complaints of rigging. He said that they had asked the CEO to send their complaint to the Chief Secretary of the State and ask her to take the necessary steps for the prevention of misuse of power by the State government.
TPCC chief Revanth Reddy, Madhu Yashki Goud and others were part of the delegation that met the CEO.
